DON’T TAKE THE BAIT!!!

Disclaimer: I believe in a gender-neutral approach to addressing Family Code issues but I believe the Bresnen’s have intentionally pushed the buttons of Non-Custodial Fathers in their undated letter titled, “DID YOU HEAR HER?”  So my reply is equally gendered.

Urgent Message to Non-Custodial Fathers

Do you know how your ex pushes your buttons with lies, distortions, and misrepresentations?  And then she plays the victim and points to your anger as the reason you shouldn’t have 50/50 – and the judge agrees?

I’m going to keep this blog as short as possible and tie two events together to reveal what I believe is the Bresnen’s intent in publishing the letter the way they did…

In a TFLF newsletter with regard to HB 453 drafted by White to address 50/50 custody in the 85th Texas Legislature 2017 (the properties of the PDF list Amy Bresnen as the author), it states:

“Sometimes lobbyists are fortunate enough to have the opposition kill their own bill.  But this fortune often comes at a price, or at least, it is not always pleasant.”

It then goes on to say,

“By the end of February, the lobby team received death threats on Facebook, as well as an alarming phone call from a man who did not identify himself.”

I BELIEVE THEIR “DID YOU HEAR HER” LETTER IS INTENTIONALLY WORDED TO GET THIS EXACT TYPE OF RESPONSE – INCLUDING THE VERY TITLE.  I BELIEVE THEY WILL PRESENT ANY ANGERED RESPONSE TO THE LEGISLATURE AS PROOF THAT THERE IS A REASON YOU DON’T HAVE REAL 50/50.

IF THE LETTER INFURIATES YOU, DON’T RESPOND!!!

Please, for the love of God, don’t respond.

A CALL TO ACTION

The best response to the Bresnen’s letter is for Custodial Mom’s and MARRIED MOMS to contact their state representative as well as Rep. Middleton and simply state,

“I am a [custodial mom/married parent] and in response to the Bresnen’s letter asking for my opinion, I support HB 803.”

You can find your representative here https://wrm.capitol.texas.gov/home

And you can email Representative Mayes Middleton (the author of HB 803) here: https://house.texas.gov/members/member-page/email/?district=23&session=87

(I wrote this blog in 34 minutes after I had the above realization.  If it sounds rushed and unpolised… that’s because it is. And to come full-circle with my original disclaimer: both moms and dads engage in the above tactic to get primary custody in our current “Winner Take All / One Size Fits All” system.)
